  19. To contribute to the signal (and not the noise) here's a
  20. question I've been pondering.  Has anyone come up with an
  21. effective way to "orphan" an object?
  22.  
  23. What I mean by this is taking an object that has a parent
  24. and sometime after the parent has done it's thing with the
  25. child, divorcing (if I can mix metaphores) that child, 
  26. reverting the child to global coordinates and settings
  27. current to it's real settings while under the parent's 
  28. influence.  I could imagine great uses for such a function
  29. (a car loosing its bumper, etc.) and could have used it
  30. myself in my last project.

  32. What would also be interesting is if a another object 
  33. could "adopt" the child and the child continue on with the
  34. relations of the new parent instead of its global settings.

  36. At first glance the best person to impliment this would be
  37. AH, but, someone with more time than I have may have come
  38. up with an AREXX program to do this.  If so, it would be
  39. interesting to see how it was done.
